Updated Commission Procedures

AppRiver is launching a new commission procedure beginning this year to improve the efficiency of our system to compensate our partners. The process progression was a move from a subscription-based payout guideline to a sales-based payout.

The old way worked really great when we were a smaller company, but thanks to partners like you, our volume has grown and our systems have had to evolve as well.

Here are the new guidelines:

  • You are required to set up your customer in your partner portal as your referral direct client.
  • If it’s an Office 365 referral client, they must be setup same as above (#1) or you may fill out an AppRiver O365 Registration Form. Ask your CSA for the form.
  • Referral Partners earn 10 percent of every subscription (or invoice) to the customer, and 10 percent is deducted for every credit memo.
  • Commissions are audited and paid at the start of each quarter for the previous quarter. For example, items dated January through March are paid in April.
  • If one of your customers is suspended during the quarter, you won’t earn a commission from that account during that quarter.
  • Suspended partners forfeit their commissions for the quarter.
  • The minimum check amount is set at $ 25.00 and your commissions will accrue until they reach this minimum.
  • You don’t earn commissions on your own services, i.e., sales to yourself.

Windows XP End of Life

As a reminder, clients with Windows XP computers that login to the Customer Portal will see a new warning about the end of life for this version of the Microsoft operating system. Again, AppRiver will continue to provide whatever support we can – and their data on our servers is not at risk. However, Microsoft will no longer provide support or updates and that is a security risk.


Here are some quick, back-to-basics tips for outbound sales generation calling:

  • Smile on the phone. The customer will be able to feel the warmth of your smile and willingness to assist them by the way you’re talking to them.
  • When calling a client, remember to introduce yourself and then ask the client if they have a moment to discuss the subject you are calling about. By extending this courtesy to the client, you are showing great respect for them and their time, and this allows them to be properly prepared to conduct the meaningful conversation your call was trying to accomplish.
  • Never underestimate the power of a follow-up call even after an issue was resolved weeks or months ago. “Hi Joe, I’m just circling back to check in and make sure everything is still running smoothly and to your satisfaction.”
